I need get to get a good size amp for playing with a band, I've got a squier bass and $150. Any reccomendations?

Anything with a 15in speaker and about 100watts should do it.

Buy used. $150 won't buy you anything of any worth if you buy new.

Better advice - it's the x-mas shopping season so consider getting a temporary additional job for a few weeks and save up some extra money.

A used Peavey 1x15 bass combo would probably be your best bang for the buck.
I'd suggest checking pawn shops and craigslist daily for bargains:

Do you mean you will use your Squier plus $150 for trade? Or do you just have $150 total?

I have a Basic 112, and it would be good for small gigs and rehearsals. i wouldnt try it with a 5er, tho. Follow the other reply to craigslist and try to pick up a Peavey TNT 150 or even a TKO 115, or Basic 115.
