I'm currently in the process of refinishing the neck on my SX-SPJ62 and converting it to fretless (TB thread). The old finish has been stripped off and the FB has been de-fretted. The entire neck and FB has been sanded to 400 grit and I'm ready for the next steps, but don't know in what order to proceed. I'm planning to finish the neck back and headstock with a rub on poly (Watco Satin) and epoxy the fingerboard with System Three Mirror Coat. I have two questions:
1. Which operation should I perform first or does it matter?
Left to my own devices, I would do the epoxy first as the tape-off is more critical and I'd rather do that tape-off on an unfinished neck.
2. How hard would it be to finish the sides of the fingerboard in epoxy?
I think it would look killer, but I'm concerned that it might be above my skill level.
Any advice is welcome!
Thanks,
obg
