Quick and dirty Tagima review.

Had a chance to check out a Tagima Hollwood series bass.
Specs are: Poplar body, one piece maple neck, maple board, passive 'P' pup, V.T. controls.
Brazilian company but absent of country of origin, most likely Asian.
The highs: Excellent woods and finish, equivalent to MIC Squier IMHO.
Nice flame to neck and finger board that doesn't show well in my lousy pictures.
1.5/40mm nut width and great feel/balance, medium to light weight.
Very "right" play ability.
The lows: So, So, sound, possibly due to the worst stock strings i have ever encountered.
Tuning stability very poor (see crappy string comment above).
Conclusion: Another excellent entry level bass, as always YMMV!
Seems to be an good modding platform. Cheers.

I recently purchased a Tagima Model TW-66 Bass guitar. I didn't know what to expect from a Bass priced a bit lower than the Fender Squier series Basses. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent construction & finish & the sound even with cheaper strings. The only items that could be improved with a little Modding is the Bridge and Machine Tuners. The sound quality was much better than I expected and has me rethinking possible pickup replacement. I would highly recommend it as starter Bass or as a backup or even a gigging bass with some modest modding. Excellent value for the $$

I have a Hipshot A style 18mm brass/Chrome on mine. Don't know about the tuners. I will also replace the nut.I'll get a black graph tech

I had Samarium Cobalt pickups and a sadowsky pre in mine.I recently swapped it for EMG Js and a BTS circuit. That bass is a beast now. Plays like a dream , great fretwork no dead spots, action a 3/32" w practically no buzzing.Took me a while, had to do some creative shimming.

Here's mine. EMG Pickups, EMG BTS EQ, Hipshot bridge and tuners, new Knobs, new strapholders, moved the neck pickup forward so pickups are now 4" apart ( Fender 70s location) and I reshaped the headstock slightly and cleaned up the fret edges and rolled the fingerboard edges a bit. So for most gigs this is now my Go To #1 bass. It sounds and feels better than some of my much more expensive basses.
