Quick question about sting length

So I just ordered a new short scale bass with a 30.5" scale. I'm looking to get some nylon coated flatwounds for it, but I'm not sure what length to get. The short scale Labellas say the are 32". Now when they say 32", is that the length of the entire string, or is that only from the saddle to the nut? I'm just worried I'll order them and they wont be long enough to reach the keys and wrap around them.

It is the length from the Ball End to the start of the silk (end of the usable windings). There is still an additional 12-14" of string left over for the tuning posts.

What kind of bass is it?

If it is the new Starcaster bass you should really get the special 33" winding length strings that were made as Ball End to Nut is exactly 32" on that one.

If it is an SG then you may need Medium Scale depending on the version.

But if you measure from Ball End to Nut and Ball End to Tuning Post of the thickest string and let me know I'll be happy to let you know what you need.

Most all Violin Basses / Beatle Basses require Medium Scale length strings. Some of them require special smaller winding sections for smaller diameter tuning posts. The Epiphone Viola does not require these smaller windings so you do not require "Beatle Bass" sets.

You basically just need "Medium Scale" strings for that instrument. Some with thick silk by the ball ends may require the silk be removed (it is cosmetic anyway)
