Anyone out there currently playing a Birdsong bass? Would you recommend the short scale fretless?
Been to the BS workshop... seen them made... played one... waiting to order one as soon as the $$ gets here. I am getting a fretted.
Did they sound as good as the sound clips? Did you try a fretless?(I'm looking for an upright sound.)
Not to steal any thunder from Birdsong, but if you're looking for a shorty fretless with an upright sound, the Rob Allen Mouse 30 suits this task extremely well. It's hard to get an URB sound without a piezo. The extra finger noise that you don't get from mags helps make it seem a bit more authentic.
Didn't play a fretless... Was not looking for one... BUT: Scott played this little prototype thing that he was working on that I SWEAR sounded more like a standup than ANYTHING I have ever heard... it was a little prototype thing with only 3 strings, but it was incredible... you might ask him about his progress...
And yeah.... the soundclips don't do justice to the sound....
Did I mention I am ordering a Birdsong???
