Has anyone USING these Orange ISOBARIC cabs got any opinions??
I don't see the advantages with bassguitar cabs.
The isobaric principle was used in some hifi speakers in the 80's e.g Dynaudio and Linn.
But since the invasion of the bycicle-tire-suspension-woofers and amplifier power is plenty available, Isobaric is not needed to produce clean low bass out of a small cabinet.
There are two advantages with Isobaric:
1.it is claimed they have lower 2nd order harmonic distortion(only when drivers are mounted face to face or back to back)
2.Vas is halved because the cone mass in doubled, this means a cabinet size half of the normal size.
Point 2 is actually pretty pointless for a compact basscabinet since the couple chamber between the front and inner drivers will take up some of volume.
A well designed bycicle-tire-suspension-woofer can do that too.
Isobaric sounds great as a marketing word, thats probably why they used it (selling more cabs) no offense.
Just my 2 cents.
