Never done it on an instrument but, I spent some years working as a painter and one rule was to always recoat oil based with oil based. Latex won't stick.
Also, how about picking up a blank sticker in the size you want from a printshop and painting your logo on that? Easy to remove then.
I'm thinking if you paint onto your bass finish, it will be difficult to get a protective cover over the painted logo afterward that will be compatible with the finish...
