Quick tapewound question...

Hi guys. I have a friend who has gone to the US and is coming back to NZ in a week. I'm seeing if she can bring me back some tapes, as NZ is useless when it comes to music gear. I think I've narrowed it down to either D'Addario and GHS, but I remember reading somewhere that one of those two won't fit on a Fender Jazz with the string-thru system, only toploading. My bridge isn't capable of both, just through the body, so I was wondering if someone could clarify which brand it is that won't go? I can't find the thread again, although I've searched.

My other question is in which store would she be able to find the right brand? Will Guitar Center carry basically everything?

Update: She's in Seattle. I see there's a place there called Bass Northwest. Anyone have any experience here?

shld be D'addario cause of the length.

ask her to get super long scale if she's getting D'addario

I finally found the thread. It seems that GHS are the best on a 4 in a row system like Fender. D'Addario's are a bit of a stretch apparently.

Daddario doesn't make extra long tapes.

Most retail stores do not carry tapes.

I called BassNW; they have D'Addario tapes in stock, but not GHS.

Looks like you'd have to order some from SLaPiNFuNK and see if they got here before your friend leaves...

Bass Strings Online ships really fast - if you contact him right away, the strings will be in seattle by mid-week next week. Not sure if that is too late....

Maybe a little late, but anyway I'm using D'Addario long scale strung through on my Fender P Deluxe, they seem to be working fine.
