Quickest 'dying' strings?

1) Dissolve some acrylic sealant in small amount of water (add sealant to water, not water to sealant, to avoid premature curing)
2) Apply the solution to a string with a cotton.
3) Let dry
4) ???????
5) Enjoy a dead string.

Don't overdo. A little solution would make string dead, too much would make it sound like it's made of acrylic sealant.

I have some ideas about waxpotting a string, but haven't tried that yet.

Update: my Chromes came today :hyper: I put them on and wow! I thought my compressed-roundwound Fodera Diamond Nickels were smooth! These are like running your finger through warm butter! :smug:

There is that tell-tale 'metallic' zing though which isn't quite my cup of tea - what's the break in period for these strings? I want 'em thumpy! :bassist:

Someone here said play them daily, do it! They will get you that thump when you roll down the tone and that zing if you roll it up. Just play them!
