OK so it’s not DI related so this may be irrelevant to the group.
At last nights rehearsal, the sound was smoking hot. Played the quilter through two Mesa subway 115 cabinets. OMG! It’s so far beyond the sound I was looking for! Clear, hefty and pretty much massive.

Quilter BB800 making bass amps great again!
Yes with a d800+. It's good but nothing like the bb800. It's not as clear and requires a good bit of eqing to get where I want to go. With the BB it's much easier to get a sound.
I agree. My BB800 with dual NV115s is great. Better with passive basses, but great regardless.
I ran mine last week at 2:6 ohms for 4 hours and it didn’t even get warm. And for the price, I got a great amp AND a di box if and when I need it for less than most equally powerful pieces. Just love this little critter to death and the best part is that it lets my basses sound so individual and clear. Far less baked in tone than many other amps I’ve tried or used.

I've owned The BB800 since the first came out, ( came with a numbered certificate, have maybe 100 gigs worth of use).
Pro's: lightweight, compact, powerful, reliable, easy to achieve desired tone very quickly.
Con's: none..... Well, the speakon should have had dual function jack.
About the D.I" ? It can be used as an input to a PA console but it is what it is .

I play in 3 diffrent bands, playing all different venues in the Baltimore/DC region and the
Soundpersons at all of them never use the D.I. from the bass amplifier. A house D.I. is used, or the house D.I. and mic combined to supply the bass sound to the PA console.
One venue I perform at ( large venue, Touring/National acts ) it's mandatory to only use the venue's own D.I.'s for any inputs into the PA console. The Soundperson told me one of the Touring act's Bass amp D.I. they were using spiked the PA console when the bass amp was powered up. The Didgital PA console was dead in the water.
Luckily they had the old analog console still on the premises. After that only their own D.I.s are allowed.
I performed there 2 weeks ago and used their House D.I. and their mic. Gotta love a soundperson that gives the bassist 2 inputs to the PA console!
D.I's are overated! hah! I much prefer to have my bass cabinet with a mic on it than a D.I. !

I sold a PLX 1804 and replaced it with the BB800. I have no regrets.
That's actually quite interesting. Thanks for that.
And once again, the argument (now moot) was never about the "quality" of the Quilter DI
(since realized as non-existent/a line out), just it's (if true DI) post master tap point.
What would have been REALLY interesting is if they would have also included the true DI outs
of many of the top, most widely used bass amps of today. THAT would have been killer.

This is where I find bass players treated like second class citizens. You might run a very specific grind tone but you're required to use a plain clean DI. Obviously having a a cab mic is different.
I've only had that happen once and I fought with the guy till he ran direct out of my SVP Pro.
Not every bass tone is token bottom fill.

Again beating a dead horse but this is the point I always try to make. When your sound is your bass and amp a DI before the amp will not do . How about DIing the guitars before their amps?
