Quilter Bass Block

Just came from a Blues Festival in Portugal and I'm so pleased so have this sweet sounding MEGALODON amp + Barefaced speakers. It was in a central square park for 100+ people, high stage with open back. The sound man told me "You got no bass on the P.A. your rig is all that is needed" :D
Guitarist was using a Deville 60W (valves) and the drummer was pretty loud but the bass was everywhere so....I was at home. This is the most important part, I could listen everyone in the stage, I could be heard by everyone at the stage ( + audience) I only had to focus on playing.

Great experience, great event, great sound.

Congrats Quilter and Barefaced.

Congrats on the gig!

I wanted to mention that it may not be a good idea to run the BB800 while in the bottom tray of the padded bag as this blocks important ventilation holes in the bottom of the chassis.

Additionally I must ask, was the pictured Contour setting the one actually used? At this level the BB operates like a LPF at 200 Hz. ;)

Cheers!

Yeah....and no...When you push the Barefaced speakers to the point of having the BassBlock floating on top of the speaker, you will have to find a way to stop it. I haven't researched the materials available in the local hardware store, so I've used the bag to prevent the BB from falling. Also, the circuit is mounted "upside down", i.e. the circuit board uses the top frame of the BB to dissipate the heat. Yes, if you dont use the bag on the bottom you get more ventilation, however the head can fall on the floor.

Congrats on the gig!

Yeah the pictured eq is the on used in the gig. GAIN 7.5 | DEEP 0 | CONTOUR 12(MAX) | MASTER 500W?

This eq is the one that fits the best for the genre I'm playing. I play palm mute and plucking. The sound I get is really oldschool, the drummer goes nuts when he listened to this eq.
I dont know if it works like you're saying, but the fact is that with this setup I can listen my self better on stage.

A small piece of non-slip mat should do the trick. This sort of thing:

Good suggestion.
It always makes me bitter when I have to carry some extra thing - like a bungee cable or a sheet of non-slip whatever. I like things simple (just like the BB800). So much so that i might try different feet. But thats a good suggestion, and I might change out my bungee.

I’ve had vibing amp issues in the past.
An Eden WT800C @30lbs. I looked over at my rig just in time to see the amp disappear off the back of my cab. Thankfully it was in a road case and continued to function. Scared the bottom feeding fish out of me tho’. :smug:
That is freaking hilarious! I ran a WT800B for years and years and never had that happen. Was it blistering loud, or a vibrating stage or cab?

I've never had an amp vibrate off ever. Must be lucky.

My guess, Poured concrete floor that probably wasn’t level where the rig was sitting got the cab to buzzing. Bought a Gramma Pad shortly after for such situations.
Puckered me good, that one.
I’ve had my BB8 walk around on a cab pretty good too. The best solution is an Audiokinesis Hathor 1203. The BB8 snugs two feet securely to “lock” into the handle recess.

This is why I don’t have any worries myself...these two components go together perfectly. Couldn’t be more happier with them but I found a great solution I think (for myself at least) and I’ll hopefully be able to share a picture in about a month or so
