Yes a loss indeed, I was able to see him around Nashville more than a few times. One of the best ever!

A master bassist, on hundreds if not a thousand-odd recordings. Made 'country bass' as vibrant and important as any other style, and his pairing with Anton Fig in JB's band was bedrock.

I don't know, but his wiki page says he passed today. I hope it's not true!
A google search turned up an article that said he died in 2020. Hopefully this one is also a hoax.
I just noticed that he's not on the tour with Joe Bonamassa a couple of days ago.

good gawd, noooo! He was an incredible, prolific player and a freaking cool guy too. This is so sad
Brent Mason just posted something on his Instagram about it. Such a terrible loss of an amazingly talented and all around awesome person.

Ugh. Didn't really know of him before Bonamassa. Saw him twice since. Such an amazing player.

Crushing blow to the bass community. One of my absolute favorite players and bass heros. RIP Mr Rhodes.
Met him in Nashville at NAMM. Great guy and monster player. So sad to learn of this.
Such a great body of work and always so creative. His playing on Randall Bramblett's albums are some of my favorites of his. Like Will Lee he seemed to bring such energy to every project he was involved in.

awww man that sucks...i loved him with Joe Bonamassa, great solid player, with classic P tone. I remember him being very cool and humble, in an interview he said he wasnt a flashy player but tastefully threw down the thump.... R.I.P Mr. Rhodes
