Rack Bass Fuzz/Distortion/Overdrive

I have a Sansamp RBI which I am using as my dirty tone but it just isn't dirty enough!

I know some people have modded VT Bass pedals into Rack cases, has anyone got the skills to build say a Big Muff Pi into a rack case that will work at line level through my effects loop?

I'm considering gutting a few of my actual effects pedals and mounting them into a rack case of some sort, only problem is I think I'll have to convert them to line level so they can be used inside the effects loop of my amp?
