Rackmount help

Hey guys,
I'm planning for first rackmount all I can think of is an ampeg svt 3 or 4 pro, a sansamp RPM and a wireless unit. I could use some help. Thanks

It almost sounds like your plan was to buy a rack case first, then debate on what you want to put inside it. Bad idea.

Wireless unit is always a good choice; thinking of the future.
I used to use a SansAmp but really lost interest in them. It's a $300+ preamp that might be a pointless investment if you find you like the sound of an svt 3 or 4 pro on its own.
Ampegs are an industry standard, so nothing wrong with looking into those, but I would advise getting to know them before taking them home.

EDIT: I almost forgot to add, for any rack case, a must-have is a good-quality power conditioner. A Furman or Monster is great for condensing all your devices into a single power cord.

add the power conditioner and you are set. But leave out the sansamp its pretty much used to emulate the ampeg sound and you are getting an svt4 pro so you are set. Always leave an open rack space near your amp so it has breathing room so it doesnt over heat too.

Yeah buying an Ampeg and a device that is meant to emulate an Ampeg is not the best use of resources.

Honestly, forget about "planning a rack" until you have found some pieces that you know for sure you like, and that are useful to you. Once you have a few pieces of gear that you like, then is the time to figure out a rack arrangement.

Frankly even the power conditioner, as you'll see when you do some searching and reading, is debatable as an item to bother with.

Start with just the amp, and work with that for a while before sinking time or money into other components.

Whereas a power conditioner's function in conditioning power as a benefit is debateable, the convenience it gives by being able to plug everything in together and flip it all on with a front panel switch is a no brainer. Still, you can get the same basic function from a power strip. I prefer a mounted conditioner with lights, myself.

I went from a rack to pedals when I started using my SVT-CL again, but I miss my SVT-III PRO and rack tuner sometimes...
