Double Bass Radial AC-Driver Acoustic Instrument Preamp/DI

I don't see very much here about this preamp. It seems like it would be a good, simple preamp solution for upright. With its low cut filter and notch filter, what else would you need, especially if your amp has EQ controls. It does confuse me when the preamp has EQ options and so does the amp as far as how to EQ both at the same time. I currently have a Vics pickup going to my Tonebone Bassbone to my Traynor 500 watt head into my PJB cabinet. I'm not getting the volume without boominess. Thoughts?

I don't see anything in the specs or other part of the OM that would disqualify it. I would consider it as a buffer and DI. It has some useful features, but not really a full set of tone controls. So I wouldn't consider it to be a stand alone MI preamp.


The only potential negative I see is it requires a wall wort.

i think its pretty much the same thing as your bassbone except without the eq... just leave your bassbone flat and save some money

Except it has a variable HPF instead of the 3 position switch that the Bassbone has, plus a separate notch filter.

You need to work with your rig more. If your Traynor has an effects loop, plug your ToneBone directly into the Return and aggressively cut your bass frequencies on the 'Bone and play "loud". If it's still too boomy, cut the next EQ on the 'Bone, etc. ad nauseum. If things are too thin, turn EQs back up to taste. Also, if your amp is in a corner, that will make things boomier. (edit- I don't think you need that AC Driver)
