Hey Guys, been checking out a Radial Tonebone Bassbone, Sansamp Bass Driver DI, Aguilar Tone Hammer Pedal/DI, Sansamp VT Bass they all sound really cool to me, lots of things you can do with it. I hear a lot of people like the Radial Tonebone Bassbone because they use 2 basses, does anyone here just use it for 1 bass just for the tonal options..Any options on these pedals would be appreciated, which one you like which one you don't ect.......Thanks Guys
Not looking for distortion, just looking to boost the low end and some volume boost. Maybe someone can suggest another pedal.
I had one and at times I used it in this way...I had wished both channels had the same options with EQ, etc. I admit that I did use it more to switch between basses, but at times I would set up one channel for slapping, for example, and it worked well. However, its not an inexpensive pedal so there may be something else out there.
I saw this video here and liked the sound and that he only used one bass and was able to use all the options of the pedal.
Hi Nitro, What bass do you have. All these pedals do slightly different things. I have experience in a few of those and other ones that's not in your list. Is your bass active or passive?
Using a G&L SB2 . I just got a Trace Elliot 210 combo and it is very mid to high mid heavy, I'm looking for a pedal to boost the lows and a volume boost, not looking for any kind of distortion.
If you are only looking for bass & volume boost, I highly recommend a Sadowsky Outboard Preamp. They don't have any fancy effects or distortion on them, just bass, treble and volume controls. They sound so good with all my basses it lead me to buy a Sadowsky bass. It is basically the same preamp that goes in to all Sadowsky basses in a pedal form. I also own a Radial Bass Bone and a Sans amp programmable DI. The Radial doesn't get used much at all. Only sometimes when I use two basses. I use the Sansamp some times when I need to pull some tube distortion kinda tones. But the Sdowsky pre gets used every time except for when I play my Sadowsky Bass. The Sadowsky pre is very clean and fattens any bass up, It can make a small rig sound much bigger. Don't buy anything without trying it for yourself though. I've made that mistake before, buying stuff on peoples recommendations. What sounds good to my ear might not do it for you.
I you are patient, a used Bassbone can be had for about $200. New or used, what you get at that price range is a unit that not only gives you the features you're looking for, but so much more. I consider it to be the nerve center of my rig. Half of the gigs I play are with 'provided' house amp rigs, and the BB has enough EQ firepower, plus the boost option, to get me through any situation. I love the fx loop, so I can use a few, or many stompboxes(depending on the gig)and just plug them in, and switch them in, as needed. Then everything can be DI'd to the PA, and amp, with the same sound. I use the 'one bass, switchable EQ' set up. Many times I do the EQ flat if the amp itself is sounding good, but I still have the option of the knob tone controls. The routing possibilities are well thought out, and I like that it doesn't have a particular 'sound'; that's what an amp is for. This just tweeks/sculpts the tone if needed. I do place a Markbass Compressore before it, but anything like fuzz/overdrive(plus all the other stuff like chorus and envelope follower, etc)are in the fx loop, easily bypassed. It's a cliche perhaps, but it's a Swiss Army knife, and way ahead of the other units mentioned.
Yes Michedelic, is right about all these options on the Radial. If the options to plug in two basses and have an effects loop is what your looking for radial is the way to go. But if you just want the bottom and volume boosted, try a Sadowsky. here is Bass Bone for sale for $165 on this forum http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f213/radial-tonebone-bassbone-997173/
hey that's me ! Normally I use it only with one bass and 2 EQ channels, but more than once I got to use it in a live situation with 2 basses (fretted and fretless) and it worked great.
was a little curious about why you need a bassbone with an asat, but i figured it out from reading the thread
