Radial Tonebone Bassbone Queston

I've used a bassbone for years, mostly to switch between electric upright and bass guitar. I have used it for two tones on one instrument some and it does both jobs wonderfully. I always leave the channel 1 flat and agree that having the same eq abilities would be nice for some but I've never needed that. What I've liked about this pedal is that as my gear has changed over the years, this pedal has remained useful and my set up has changed a lot. Also, the shaping ability of channel 2 is really impressive to me. I doubt you'll have any remorse over dropping money on it. The DI, loop, boost, and tuner out have all been more useful than i thought they would be. It's a good studio tool too. Good luck.
I use the tonebone bass bone with 1 bass. It is awesome in that I can set my amp to whatever setting I want and the tonebone then acts as a A/B switch. I can keep it on channel 1 to get my amp tone, or I can switch to channel 2 to bypass my amps settings and change it up to whatever setting I have for my Tonebone.
I use it primarily to get my standard tone (no highs, lots of mid and lots of lows) on the tonebone and build a second tone with (some mids, lots of highs and moderate lows) It's nice for switching from fat driving low bass to something where I'm a little more mobile on the bass (solo's, walking bass lines, etc)

It might also be worthwhile checking out the Lehle/RMI Basswitch IQ DI. I can think of situations were I find something like the Basswitch quiet useful and convenient even with just one bass. For example for an active and a passive sound, for occasionally EQ'ing mids differently on instruments with 2-band pre that cover a lot of sonic ground (e.g. a P/J) or for different effect settings.
I sold my bassbone and bought a programmable sansamp bass DI.
Nothing wrong with a bassbone, but I liked the warmer tome of the sansamp, and then with the programmable one I've got three presets.
And I'm waiting on a VTBass DI. I may get tired of waiting and go for a paradriver.
The only drawback to the bassbone is the 15 volt power supply and no battery option.

just picked up a Bassbone for $150 & am very happy with it. clean sounding & the eq brings a good amount of bottom end. it's replacing a SA - BDDI Prog on the pedalboard which i liked for a long time, but it has a "farty" sound that just wont go away when you try to dial in a clean sound. the Eden - WTDI is also on the list in case i end up wanting the "compressed" sound on a track. i am also still tempted by the 3Leaf - Enabler which is supposed to be very clean as well, but its out of stock at the moment.

BassBone is a great pedal, I use it with one bass and switch between ch1 "flat" and ch2 which has boosted mids and the treb and bass bumped up slightly to really cut thru with more clarity. The tuner out and boost/loop features are great. This drives my signal to FOH. The Aguilar Tone Hammer is an excellent choice as well, I come out of the 1/4" output of BB into the TH then send that signal to a poweramp and PA speaker on stage I use as my stage rig/bass mon. It's a great setup for me as I can adjust my stage tone/volume without messing with the FOH signal. The Sansamp stuff can be cool but a lil too mid sucky for my needs. I havn't played with any VT's yet tho/
The eq points on the BassBone are not well chosen, the PSU is hard to replace.....
At first glimpse, the Bassbone is a cool thing, but its execution is not at par.
If you really want a great sounding preamp, a great effects loop switcher...... Get a RMI Basswitch IQ/DI. It is perfect in every aspect.

The Bassbone IS a preamp, and would drive just a power amp if needed. The Basswitch is a superior unit, the bells and whistles are far more advanced, but then again it's $600.00 retail, and finding one used is next to impossible.
I have been using the bassbone for five years, and have found it to be great in all situations. Two basses, one bass two presets, used as a preamp into a powered speaker, built like a tank. The only thing I don't like is the 15v power supply, hard to replace, and easy to break....I would get another in a heartbeat.
I got the Bassbone once and loved it. I've sold mine, but now I've bought another one and I am happy as can be.

I use it in smaller Venues (Bars), when I put my Bass(es) intop the BB and from there into the Mixing Console. Got my Sound on the Monitors.
Or when we play in the Hotels during the Holidays. They have Bassamps there, but often in bad Quality. So I only use the Power Amp of their Bassamps and have "my Sound" in da Pocket.
Or as a recording Preamp

I have a Bassbone, and based on your description of what you are looking for, it's the right tool.
For me, the pedal is just short of perfect (sans placement of ins & outs and the oddball 15v power supply).

Actually, No, the Bassbone cannot be used as a preamp where you would send the pedal signal directly to a power amp.
The q&a on the pedal at the ToneBone site specifically says so.
