If I recall the sunn models correctly the 100S/200S and 1000S/2000S were guitar/bass models in this fashion. The 100/1000 had trem and verb but the power amps and much of the preamps were the same. 100/200 were 2 power tubes, 1000/2000 were four.

$1440 is actually a good price compared to what they normally sell for. They have it listed on their website for $3499, and on Reverb for $3999

I owned a Sunn model T which was 150W RMS and came with a Sunn 4x15 400 W RMS cab. Interestingly the speakers were loaded at 45 degrees to maintain the standardized frontal width. It was a good cab.

I also owned a 200S back in 1969. Great head, and a major step up from most other amps of the day. I had two 200S cabinets, one with JBLs, the other with Altecs. I don't recall using them at the same time though lol. They were a huge step up from the Fender Dual Showman I was using prior, which would freak out pretty badly if bass if I cranked it. I saw a fair bit of Sunn bass amps back then, including Billy Cox when I saw Hendrix cut the Band of Gypsys record at the Filmore. He had two 2000S heads (double the wattage of the 200S), with four 2-15 cabinets. Sunn bass amps were popular, however I never saw ANYBODY use a Sunn guitar amp. Not friends, not on any stage. I only saw them in stores.
My mistake... The tag on the head said $1400. Didn't see the one on the cab. It's hanging right on the side.

Yea, it's a guitar amp. A guy in a local band had one of those back in the day and it was the loudest guitar amp I've ever heard. His brother had a matching 2000S bass amp. Problem was that their PA could never keep up with their stage amps. Maybe that was for the best as none of them could sing worth a crap...lol......That one looks to be in mint condition.

The Sunn is a helluva good amplifier, and the speaker cabinet is a good one too - - but not for bass. For >$3,000, it isn't a very good deal for anyone. For less money, you can buy something smaller, lighter and doesn't have tubes (which are destined to fail). The 1000S and 2000S were some of the best amps money could buy in the late 60s and early 70s, and they are still competitive sonically, but I don't know if I'd be interested at much more than $1,000 for both pieces. If memory serves me correctly, those amps were about that price when they were new.
It all depends how badly someone wants them, and that's how they are priced. Personally, I wouldn't consider paying more than $500 for the pair.

About 1974 I played in a band where the guitar player had that exact amp ... it is loud. I had the 2000s which was the bass version. In the 1970s Chris Squire toured with Sunn 6x12 cabs
It is the same power amp that the 2000S has. 120 watts RMS but will go way loud. My 2000S has way too much bass output that I have to run it on the bright channel (which I think is on par with the 1000S) tone-wise. It will make an awesome bass amp BUT---- it is 30" wide that will overhang 99+% of the cabinets out there. AND the matching cab is meant for guitar. FWIW, I don't haul around my Sunn 2000S because it is an antique and use it at home only.

I love old Sunn stuff. I've got a Concert head and 215 cabinet as well as a 190B head and 115 cab.
The one question you have to ask yourself is, "Do I have the back to handle an amp like this?"

I swear sometimes if I shut my eyes I can still hear some Sunn and Marshall stacks in my head. It’s like when you cover your ear with a seashell.
tremelo and reverb… it’s a guitar amp, which can be used for bass. You would need to trace the serial number on the speaker cab to insure it’s a bass cab.
