I know that this won't help you at all, but I played a bass almost identical to that at the London Bass Guitar Show and it was beautiful and smooth. Had an incredible voice as well. Those Status basses are really unique sounding

What is it about the Status? The light-up fretboard inlays? Billy Sheehan has those... I think they're cool but not my thang. I do love that blue/green finish, though.

An Epiphone Viola. What a boring, conservative choice, right? I can't help it, though. I like the way that hollow body moves me and it's got a really cool style, I think.

Just wondering, why does it have 3 strap buttons? I've seen this on a few guitars and basses and never really understood why

The design means you can't have a central bottom strap button and having one either side of the tuners gives more option for getting the bass to hang/balance the way you want it to.

Well, if you order another one, send me this one. It's one of my dreams, to once own a Rob Allen. And I've had 2 of those dreams before: a Celinder and a vintage Fender. I always thought "ah I can never ever afford them", but I own both now so who knows in the future...?
