*rant* I hate the new Windows Media Player!!

I use windows media player. Never had trouble using it ever. I can quickly find a artist or album in the library without having to root through folders. I can't hear any discernible difference in sound quality between it and winamp
Same here. I've always upgraded to new versions as they came out, and never had much of an issue. I'm now at a point where I'm organized to the level that I'm annoyed if I don't have the correct album cover linked to a song.

What is necessary though is to turn off the automatic updating of album information from the internet. That can screw things up royally.

Very often I'll search for all the songs with a particular word in the title, like "summer", "fish", "talk" or something and play the resulting set of songs in random order. Takes no time at all, and is a good way to get fresh angles at my collection.

I have honestly never explicitly created or saved a playlist in the 8 years I've had my record collection digitized.

Seriously. I just downloaded the new version and it is without doubt the biggest heap of complete garbage I have ever come across.
When I booted it up half the library was missing and I ended up manually restoring over 100hrs of music.
Then when I wanted to listen to Def Leppard I went into the library and found myself going around in circles because some of my Leppard CDs were marked as metal and others as rock. It also couldn't find album info for some of my Depeche Mode singles.

Add to that the seriously annoying interface and the fact it deleted some of the songs and I'm losing my patience.

Anyone?

Delete that abomination and try Real Player or ANYTHING but Windows Media, HATE IT HATE IT HATE IT!! :scowl:

Besides serrepitously rearranging my library, that thingsis the biggest damned system resource hog in the world!

Now real player is one that grinds my gears. I've installed it and use real alternative to play the occasional real media file I come across on the net.
