Rapping is Illegal in Utah

I appreciate your attempt to help me see the light and understand the diversity of the genre. The bottom line is....my hair on the back of my neck starts to stand on end when I hear that stupid bass beat with the odd background noise (jingle or scratch)....or a sample from a popular song from history...and then some person starts rapping. It absolutely repulses me.
Me too, buddy.

Same reason young Mexicans blast the Norteno Polka music at 6 AM and young Metalheads blast the latest hit about killing at 250 bpm with cookie monster vocals.

Kids like their music loud regardless of the content. :bassist:
If they like it so much, why don't they stay outside and listen to it, instead of making everyone else have to hear it while they are inside talking **** to the girl at the counter.

So if we were to say rap should be banned from mainstream radio and MTV would we all agree?

Since the 'good stuff is never heard there anyway, and the 'crap' that gives people a pre concieved idea annoys the hell out of everyone, including underground rap fans...?

:p

Mainstream radio is dying and MTV stopped playing music at least 10 years ago. AFAIK. So, yeah. :D

And when it comes to baggy pants and ridiculous jewellery, I wouldn't take that too seriously. I mean, with every generation comes new trends that don't go trough older generations well. It has been the case with grease headed rockers, long haired hippies, heavy metal people in their leather jackets.. These things come and go, but luckily the good music lives on. I like to listen to Jefferson Aeroplane but I'm not still going to leave the apartment looking like a hippie with head full of acid. Granted, I wouldn't leave my house looking like Ali G either.

This is what i don't like about rap, people for some reason think that because im 17 i like rap and therefore should be treated like some juvenile delinquent who goes around slapping bitches and ho's.

I personally can't stand the music, but just like you said its just personal taste. I also can't stand tomaotes, they qualify as food just like any other, but i hate them, on the same token i am a huge fan of mangoes.

I like some Sly mixed with Hall and Oates and a decent non profane message

...to each his/her own

it's just sad because there are (were) some good acts that weren't profanity ridden crime mongering reptiles like some of these present acts are.
