I privately own and operate a local musical instument repair shop.
This is one of the best balanced basses Gibson ever made. Very lightweight. Quite rare too, as you say. This is only the third one I've seen on TalkBass.

I use Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Rounds on mine. :thumbsup:

Yup, balances like a P, sounds like a Thunderbird and has tons of low end. I'll have to try out some Jazz Rounds, what gauges do you have on yours? The EB Slinkies on there now are just a little too tight for the truss rod.

TI Jazz Rounds are guaged: .043 - .051 - .068 - .089 - .118. Sounds weird, but very balanced tension. The mahogany set neck also behaves much better if the humidity is somewhat controlled.

*love playing mine... I just gigged it out tonight, mostly because of this thread. :thumbsup:

They're pretty expensive, huh? If I decide to keep this old girl (and I just might) then I'll put a set on :)
