Rat vs. Big Muff

Seems like there's a lot of threads like this around, but I wanted to try and get a bit more specific with my bass distortion. The Rat and the Russian Big Muff seem to be the most common uses bass pedals to get some dirt on your tone. I want some distortion without losing low end. Also, keeping definition in my notes is key. I feel like with a fuzz pedal you don't get definition, but an overdrive pedal might not keep the low end! I play a jazz bass with a pick thru a Mesa 400+ head. Any suggestions would rule! Thanks!

I love the rat but feel it just eats too much of my bottom end when I am using it.
If I found something that sounds just like the rat but leaves the bottom intact I'd be there...

Haven't had enough time with a muff to comment.

Well it could. Unless, you know, you just post up yours. ;)

NEVER. joking.. i wud have to check my internal settings again, was a little while ago i messed with them. Set and forget.. which i did. i actually ****ED up before... its 7 knobs, the 2 internal knobs just change how the scoop and crunch knobs work. but its essential for bass.

i have mine set with Loudness 10, Filter 2, Sustain 2, Scoop 12-1, Crunch 6-8(depends on room or mood:cool:)

i'll edit this post once i check my internal settings.. so watch this space Floyd Eye.

I personaly dont like the Muff that much.
I really like and been using a TurboRat for a long time but always with a Boss EQ pedal after it for some low-end cause TR cuts alot of bass freqs. Both always open and through an LS-2 to quickly engage them.
My problem now is that I added some new stuff to my pedaltrain and dont have room for those 3 pedals anymore, so now im using a Tech21 XXL bass dist(dont like it that much either).
I really want this TurboRat+EQ tone back in one pedal. Suggestions?

I agree on the Turbo Rat, that pedal just works so well with bass. you could eliminate the eq, by blending in the second loop on the LS-2. the Reutz mod supposedly restores bottom end.
