When I play on certain frets and hold it, the amp does a buzzing/rattling sound. It's an Acoustic B100, about 4 years old. This usually happens when I'm hitting the strings hard. Is this just because its a cheap/old amp?

It might not be. You'll know if it is if your bass makes the same noise when unplugged. If not, it's your amp. Could be any number of things, check for any loose screws or pieces of stuff. Nearly any amp will rattle very slightly in my experience, especially one being used regularly and taken on the road. You can even hear it in some recordings by pretty big bands, a subtle rattle from the bass cabinet. No, it's because your strings are rattling into your frets.
