RBX374 Pickups?

Hi again,

I have a yamaha RBX 374, and to anyone who has one, have you noticed that the neck pickup gives out HUGE transient pops when using fingers rather than pick? I am wondering whether this is the pickup itself or if it is the positioning of it. It is also not hitting the pole pieces. I've been thinking of swapping the pickup around with the bridge one....would that remove the transients? Any thoughts?

are you SURE it's not hitting the pole pieces? put 2 layers of black electrical tape over the pole pieces and let us know what you find.

another test...Try playing near the bridge with your right hand....does that eliminate the problem or make it better?...If "yes", then it's the pole pieces

My Yamaha RBX374 does not have the problem that you have described. However, both pickups are a little noisy, especially when near florescent lights, but I just turn down the treble.

Are your strings too close to the pickups? Adjust your p/up height accordingly. What type of strings are you using? I use D'Addario Chromes and they sound great.

well ive tried one layer of electrical tape and its still there

I use D'addario Prosteels on this bass
