Re-designed D'Addario Website Sucks for the Canucks!

I checked into the D'Addario website recently and found out it's been completely re-designed.

One odd thing I noticed was the diameter and tension info on a lot of the bass string models was only showing in metric (mm/kg) instead of the usual inch/lbs. So, I contacted the D'A Customer Care, who promptly responded to tell me the new website is specifically designed to show the info in metric only for those who are located in Canada. What? Are you kidding me?

What was wrong with the way the old site was showing all the info in both metric and imperial?

There you go... My rant for the day!

LOL. Canadians don't measure their instrument setups in metric. We also don't measure string tension in metric. I don't know anyone who does. Hopefully D'Addario sees the error in their ways!

The whole world uses the metric system, it's not like it's two or three people. :p
But I agree, I do not find their new design very readable or very convenient to navigate.

Metric is simply easier to use, especially if you're doing any dimension/volume calculations.

It depends on the application. Many things in Canada are not done by the metric system as it can be cumbersome when dealing internationally.
Strings are not ordered by metric dimensions. Nor are they ever spoken of that way.
Even aviation uses Imperial standards in Canada for navigation, although things have changed since my retirement. Altitude in feet, barometric settings in inHg, speed in knots...mostly universal. Russia not withstanding.

You just gave me an idea... So, I went back on the site and checked to see where I might be able to change the region. Wouldn't you know it, all I had to do was to hover my mouse pointer over the shopping cart and it gave me the option for switching from CAD to USD. That simple change also changed the way the tension info is now showing. Back to inches and lbs.!!!

What boggles my mind is just why the D'A customer service rep couldn't have told me about this simple solution to my problem!

So simple... and so silly!

I think they more deal with product related service questions than anything else. This is common on many ecommerce platforms, just how to switch is what you need to find. Lots of websites have a mobile or desktop viewing option still which is old...
