I blame the neighbors for our residual use of the imperial system. It's cumbersome and makes no sense at all, whereas if you can divide/multiply by 10 in your head, you're good to go with the metric system.
How do you ask for lunchmeat of cheese at the deli? I had an odd thought last night wondering if metric delis sold 10% more on average than imperial delis - assuming that imperial usually ask for a pound or a half pound and metric would ask for a half kilo or quarter kilo (1.1 lbs or .55 lbs). Or is an 8.8 lbs (4 kg) bass more acceptable in a metric country versus the US where the ideal is to be under 8 lbs?
