I have a Peavey bass and I'm replacing single coil pickups (with height adjusting screws) with pickups with 4 screws( 2 each side) and need to know how far the strings should be from the pickups since they're not height adjustable. Any help?
In general, when you put the new pickups in you will place foam under the pickups. The compression of the foam will allow you almost as much adjustability as your old pickups had. You should be able to adjust them to suit your personal tastes and playing style.
