reading notation sheets from...

... a digital device.

i have narrowed my options to the ipad 2 and the asus eee pad transformer.

which one do you think its best for reading music? is there a better option?

are there any compatible pedal switches to move the notation pages forward and backward?

the iPad.

I have an iPad, and wanted to buy my wife something she could read charts from for Christmas. So I started looking, thinking I could get away with a Droid tablet for less bread. Short answer - the music related apps just aren't there.

I use ForScore primarily. Good .pdf reading app with the ability to write on (notate) .pdf files. Making changes, highlighting, etc. Very cool app, and almost worth the price of the iPad in and of itself.

Got interested in this and checked out the forScore website see the FAQ page below:

They say no android version and that there are compatible foot pedals for page changing.

I'm thinking of getting a tablet and was leaning towards android rather than iPad but something like this might swing it the other way! Sub'd for learning thanks guys!

well, thinking about this, to read music, you only need a pdf reader and a footswitch that is compatible to move pages back and forth... this is easy on android.

is this compatible with the asus tablet?

if you want to go further, lets say, read from a midi file (think guitar pro), is there any software that does the same as the windows version of guitar pro?

There do seem to be other Android and Windows based apps around - Music reader, music notes any experience with these anyone? I agree that a foot switch page turner is essential- read a review that said the forScore app had a fixed speed page turn animation as used in iPad / iPhone - mentioned that the delay may be problematical for music?

i'm starting to get so pissed there are any good interfaces or apps for android ....i can't afford the jump to iphone right now!

i realize i'm late to this thread ..is there anything like i rig for android?

you are not late, i just made it a couple of days ago. :ninja:

but each day that goes by i lean even more towards android. lets see if some more variables go into the equation in the next days :bassist:

yes... i have installed many but since i do not found all of them useful i kept these (note all of them are free)

sight reading ( it helps you to know the staves notes)
mobile metronome
slick metronome
simple metronome (all of these have advantages when compared to others so i have all 3 of them)
audio speech (to slow or fasten mp3)
midisheet music (to read your midi's in notation, focused to keyboards)
mobile sheets (useful to use with your music sheet collection)
gchord (lots of them in here)
music scales (lots of scales here)
music theory, score master and perfect ear for chords, inversions, intervals, etc etc.

i do not think i need anything else but there are more apps for free you can try.

for me i think i am pretty well covered. i might pay for a full version of some apps since they are so cheap and i want to support those who made them. but the free versions are pretty complete. like i said, i do not think i need more than what i already have.
