ready for the funhouse

On the one hand, tech changes quickly and constantly, and it's hard to keep up.

On the other hand, if my 85-year-old mother can do it, you can too.

The key is to roll with it instead of fighting it.
How does one choose what to fight against and what to "roll with?" I have to admit "everybody else uses and does it" has never quite made my criteria set in terms of making that decision....

You can fight anything you want. For me, life is too short to tilt against windmills. I choose not to fight things like streaming music, online menus and cashless payments (even if I may take issue with them on principle). Life is less stressful as a result.

Yeah, we just had a new HVAC installed. Installer asks us if we want to control the thermostat from our phones. While I'm no Luddite, I just laughed and said NO. Can we just get a god-forsaken simple thermostat? Anyway, after he left, I looked into the app for grins. Turns out I cannot install that phone app unless I upgrade my three year old Android phone. Unbelievable.

Or when we pull out cash at the dog boarding place and the help rolls their eyes and says, I have to go get the till from out back cause no one has paid in cash all day.

Some places used to have cash discounts, now some places don’t accept cash at all… pretty soon there will be an up charge for paying in cash! I guess sometimes there already is because they can’t/wont give correct change.
