Double Bass realist jack holder clip with gut string loop

Hi.

i have a standard realist copperhead with the jack that is clipped on by compressive pull from the G string.

does this work with a loop-installed gut string? Or do I need to move it.

No reason why it shouldn't work, right? You might need to get some washers (metal+rubber worked great for me) to adjust the spacing.

I’m trying to imagine. The thing is when you have a loop, you no longer have a ball end that pulls on the felt washer and on to the jack clip in the same way. But I can’t quite imagine the difference in my minds eye!

Sometimes I've had to double-knot a gut G string to work with my Realist, but no big deal... I like the Realist for gut a lot more than the full circle, btw, at least with my PJB amps. You could always flip the bracket and hook up the pickup plug up to the E string instead.

Thank you, really helpful. On arrival the string (Chorda G) has a nice big knot in already, so I think I’ll thread it through a spare felt washer and call it a day! Thanks zoot.

Just get THIS - it is a better way of attaching.

I haven’t used the pipe clamp (go to any hardware store and ask) in over a decade.

A simple nylon cable tie cinched tight with a pair of pliers is a less elegant but better way of attachment. Once it’s on, it is undisturbed when changing strings.
