I appreciate these basses as opposed to...because these basses have REAL mojo; and if these basses could talk, oh, we'd still be listening when the sun rises.

I like this thread, and I like seeing wear patterns, and I like having Dixie Dave as a gold-standard reminder to try to play my ass off and not give too much of a F. I fall short of the Dixie Dave standard, but this photo and the occasional YouTube Weedeater video helps me keep my priorities a little straighter, at least.
(My own bass is pretty much the more polite, timid sibling of Dave's Squier, in white—much like the one immediately below this post. Like, the sibling that gets slightly more corrupted at each family holiday. Kind of like how every Christmas my cousin from SoCal would make me listen to Dead Kennedys and Black Flag and stuff, steering me away bit by bit from classic rock radio).
I dig that pink bass in the OP.

My workhorse '63 Reissue. It's all honest wear and never been cleaned.
Had a Squier once that was in this category. There was mung growing by all the frets, and the pickup covers were worn through from an excess of punk rock

That had been played HARD and long, this is after an extensive cleanup. The nitro had softened. I buffed by hand with paste wax until the surface damage had lessened.
the exposed maple areas has been stained with unspeakable compounds, and it smelled like an ashtray.
The bridge looked like a dryer lint trap, and all the spilled beer/drinks had created a "varnish" over the nickel saddles.
The fretboard looked like someone had smeared it with fudge.
Post dis-infection: but still plenty of wear
It's original case shows the same level of wear.

Very nice! I love the black on black for P-bass, been hooked on that since I started getting into David J Haskins stuff in Bauhaus.
This T-20 I picked up in November has seen it's fair share of playing. I don't think I've put a dent on it, but not sure I'd know if I did haha.
'74/75 Ripper I'm piecing back together.
I distinctly recall seeing even clearer photos and the entire bass looks like it is made out of infected toenails glued together with drug scabs and VD pus.
This qualifies as "dirty" and I did clean it off. My blood after executing an "out of position" windmill and catching the meaty part of my palm on the bridge. 9 stiches to close it up.
