reccomend me a bass

Can someone suggest me a fairly cheap bass that fits the "metal" image and sounds good, preferably a five string bass if not i can just string it BEAD and get a set-up.

Thanks
Jack

Image? :hmm: Important perhaps, but not nearly important as a few other things.

The three criterion which should matter, and which every instrument you should consider buying must posess:

1.) Can you afford it.
2.) Does it sound good to your ears.
3.) Does it feel good in your hands.

Nothing any one of us can recommend should trump or be considered as remotely important as these three questions. And "consensus" here, such as it may be, should not trump the three questions, either.

Please spend some fair quality time in a music store to answer these three questions, and while you're at it, and since it's YOUR money, enjoy the process of discovery.

Thanks, the ukelele link didn't work though, I'm thinking of getting a black epiphone tbird and tuning it bead, they fit the image and sound and play well 2 , waddayathink?
If you broke your neck this bass might not be a good choice, heavy and you will have to deal with neck dive.

On a budget the Ibanez BTB suggestion was a good one. As for the warwick ive got the $$ and tuned down to B and it simply rocks, it is a very versatile bass for many different styles and it fits the image your after.
