Reccomendations for Passive 4 stringers

I've been GASing for a new 4 stringer for the past couple months now and would love to hear some TB recommendations.

I'm a strictly passive guy, and Love the classic Fender J.

I've heard good things about the Reverend Rumblefish, but have never had my hands on one... so, any recommendations from the TB universe as to what I should try and checkout?

I'm strictly 34" scale, and prefer the 1.5" nut of a J to the 1.65 of a P.

Thanks for your Two Cents TB!

I'm a big Jazz fan too. At first, I had an '06 Highway One, which I thought was great...until I got my paws on a '70s Classic Jazz. Sounds and plays like a much more expensive bass, but was only $625 new, with a Fender HSC.

It's only available in sunburst or black, and has the '70s pickup spacing and logo. What I like best, though, is the shape of the neck. It's still 1-1/2" at the nut, but much fatter front-to-back. Much more comfortable for me...

Reverends are fantastic, but the tone is a little bigger and deeper/beefier than a typical Jazz. The neck is very similar to a Jazz though. The fish w/skunk striped necks have a slightly thinner front-to-back neck profile than the later (non-skunk-striped) ones, but the nut width on all the four-string Revs is 1.5".

A nice vintage Peavey T-40 or its successor the Foundation. Both outstanding vintage American made axes.
Also-the Yamaha BB series. I have the BB614 active model but they also make a passive one (though the model # escapes me at the moment) and the neck would probably be to your liking-not quite as small as a J but not outrageously beefy either.
The T-40 can also double as a weapon/shield in the event of a bar brawl! :ninja:
