Received custom p/g. Doesn't fit?

I ordered a custom pickguard. I told them it was for a Fender Am Std Jazz and the only thing custom about the p/g is that I want it with no screwholes (and made with aged pearloid material).

I received it yesterday and it fits perfectly except for where it mates up to the control plate. Pic at bottom.

I emailed the place where I got it and mentioned that it's a Warmoth Jazz. Their response is "I guess it's not the same a Fender. The pickguard came from standard WD Music templates so it is for the Fender American Standard." And they want me to file the pickguard to make it fit (pic that they sent me attached below). The control plate itself IS a Fender part.

Does this seem reasonable? Or should I be trying to return the p/g and get them to fix it?
