Rechargeable power supply

Hey all. I find the subject of power supply very confusing. For a couple show I need a rechargeable battery powery supply. My board for this show uses a zoom b1 four and a zoom ms60b, both run through a joyo orthos line selector. Will this work for all pedals and not fry anything. ..... STRICH SPS-40B Rechargeable Guitar Pedal Power Supply with Built-in 10000mAh, 10 Outputs DC 9V (2 x 300mA, 8 x 100mA)
 
The 300mA isn't enough to power the B1. It wants 500Ma according to the manual. It's probably the same for the 60B. I don't have one, but my 60B+ really wants that 500mA. If not, it just shuts down/reboots. That's not to say they won't work, but it's below Zoom's requirements and you may run into issues.
The Joyo only requires a trickle of power (22Ma), so that shouldn't be a problem.

Will you fry anything if you add the 3 together? Nope.
Worst case either of the 3 pedals doesn't get enough power and it'll shut down/reboot.
But I'd do some serious testing with all the presets and combinations you're going to use to check that neither Zoom shuts down halfway a song through lack of power. Also, I don't know how long those shows last, but with 10k Ma, anything over 1 hour of power (provided the pedals handle it alright) is probably stretching your luck. In all honesty, I wouldn't bring such a setup to a show, in fear of my pedals shutting down mid-song.

My advise would be to use the internal battery power supply for both the B1 and 60B (just replace them after each show) and let the external battery take care of the Line selector or get a power supply that can provide a higher Ma output.

I have a similar setup with my B6 (also 500Ma) and with 10k Ma, I can get about 3-4 hours of power depending on the presets I use. You're doubling that, and adding a 3rd pedal as well. So even if your setup works, it's not going to last very long.

I don't think the B1 Four does, but I'm fairly certain the MS-60B will run on two AA batteries. The battery initially cited doesn't seem to run the B1 Four, but at least you can look for something without the MS-60B draining it too. One of the things I love about Zoom pedals is the AA battery compatibility :bassist:

They can both run on batteries. The 60B needs 2 and the B1 needs 4 AA batteries. That's why I suggested it. Shamelessly stealing half a pic from the Thomann website:

4400Mah for an entire show sounds like an 'I'll just about make it' scenario to me with an draw of 1k+Mah. With 10k Mah and a single 500Ma drawing B6 I have 3-3.5 hours of power. By that math OP will last 1.5 hours on this if he's lucky. I'd personally prefer a heavier powerbank, just to be safe. If there's one thing I've learned it's that things never go as expected and having a bit of extra juice never goes amiss imo. But if OP's shows are significantly shorter than 1.5 hours, like say an hour or less, it'll do fine. It definitely wouldn't be enough for my function/wedding band.

Maybe the will help....and maybe it won't

The first thing you need is the correct voltage. Voltage is like pressure or a force that pushes energy into the pedals. If the supplied voltage is too low, the pedal may not get enough power to operate properly. If the supplied voltage is too high, the pedal will be damaged and let out the magic smoke.

Current is the rate in which the energy flows. If you supply the correct voltage, your pedals will regulate how much current they require. So as long as the supply can provide at least the minimum required current, then your good to go.

Simplifying the math,
4400mAh would be actually a bit more than 4h with 500mA+500mA+22mA, you may argue that the full capacity of the battery may not be available but still... and I hooked a multimeter on the zoom out of curiosity, result was that the average current consumption is closer to 100mA-150mA than 500mA (which may be drawn for short periods of time).

I personally use the Joyo mentioned above with one ms50g (rated 500mA), one ms60b+ (also rated 500mA), an ehx pitchfork+ (also quite power hungry don't remember the exact number) and a few (not so hungry) analog pedals, and it lasts me 4 hours no problem. Ymmv

My understanding is the 4400mAh rating is based on the total current that can be drawn continuously over 20 hrs.

4400/20 = 220mA continuous

Higher current can be supplied, but it reduces the total available mAh.

For AC power banks I have seen the recommendation to prorate by something like 75% or 80%.

4400/1022 x 0.75 = 3.23 hrs

Keep in mind this is still an estimate.

Theory's nice and all, and I'm sure your math is more accurate than mine. I'm just doing the math based on reality.
And my reality is that just the B6 with a 500Ma draw will definitely not last much longer than 4 hours on my 10k Ma powerbank. Let alone the 8 hours+ your math would indicate. I wish! I don't need it, but dam, I wish it would.

The powerbank starts to blink when I'm below 25%. And at the end of my evening of rehearsals, which usually lasts about 4 hours, I'm definitely seeing it blink the last 45 minutes or so. So there can't be that much left. If I was able to drain it in less than an evening of rehearsals, I'd never bring it to a gig or I'd get a backup first. But it's enough to last a show or rehearsals on it's own so I was happy with it. I'd still never add another pedal to that powerbank though. I just can't expect it to last the entire evening, while according to the theory, it should. Theory doesn't always equal reality. Quality matters.

Granted, that Thomann powerbank wasn't terribly expensive, so maybe it's really not that good, even if it's sufficient for my needs. I got it as an experiment that turned out better than I anticipated, so I've kept it. I really wanted the 15k Mission Engineering bank at first, but Thomann doesn't have it and it's also a bit too expensive for something I considered an experiment. I figured I'd get that one should it be a success. I did see the Joyo too, but since reviewers claimed the outputs are not all that well isolated and complained about noise, I decided against that one because I wanted to have the option to add a 2nd pedal later on. I never had any regrets, until now perhaps ;)

Anyway, clearly Joyo does their homework a lot better than the Thomann home brand supplier does (whoever that is) and maybe I'm in need of a change in power banks when this one eventually dies on me. Maybe even sooner.
