BTW, those "things" on computer cables are definitely chokes. You can use one on you instrument cable, or you can just loop you cable through a ring or torroid shaped choke. The more times you pass through the torroid shape the more effective the choke becomes. The beads are more expensive and you can only pass you cable through it once. So if one is not enough you would have to keep adding more.
