Double Bass Recital-unaccompanied original bass compositions

So, I'm planning a recital at our local library of unaccompanied original works for bass. Here goes:

Sonnet and Dance, by Max Stern
The Muse and Master, by Tom Knific
Ballade for Unaccompanied Contrabass, by Behzad Ranjbaran
Four For Ray, by Bertram Turetzky
Seranade for Solo Double Bass, by Patrick Neher
B.B. Wolf, by Jon Deak

My 1870s Czech bass has been carefully restored by Dennis Roy (of the Boston Symphony) and a low C added, although I won't need it for this music. The bass never sounded better; now all I have to do is practice practice practice. I post this because I enjoy reading other people's recital programs, and I get good ideas from this site.

Cool program. I've played the Ranjbaran many times, very nice piece and people always like it.

Have you played the Elliot Carter Figment? Definitely worth looking into for the future the next time you do a solo bass recital. It's a lot of work for 3 minutes and 15 seconds of music, but definitely worth the time.

Awesome program! The Pärt is so beautiful, how is the Simandl? I have one or two of his other actual compositions, I should pull them out.

Yeah the Pärt is awesome. Deceptively difficult. By far the most difficult on the program. The Simandl is what you'd expect. Schmaltz,schmaltz and more schmaltz. It's cute and charming. I chose it because it's a solid piece without having to expend too much time on it, unlike the other three. Hope all is well with you.
