from what the Portland area shops say, the fostex stuff is only OK. Tends to be buggy at first release. My recommendation is Tascam. Good factory support, supportive user base. Fairly intuitive user interface. Check out the 788 forum (used to be at www.tascom.com - I think there is still a link there. If not let me know and I'll dig one up.)
