Recommend me a bass amp

I'm selling my guitar amp and moving over to the dark side

I'll have about $200 to spend on a bass amp. I've seen the Ampeg BA-112 and the Acoustic B100. I particularly like the Ampeg because the 12" speaker would also sound really good with guitar (which I don't plan to quit outright). Are there any other suggestions or alternatives?

Ampeg is a good safe purchase to start you off with .

Ampeg ba115 is a good first amp. Also, lots of us started out on a peavey 15" combo. They can be had cheap. I had a 300 combo for many years. Heavy, but stone axe reliable, and plenty loud.

I found a Fender M-80 for $100 locally. Would that, an overdrive pedal, and maybe an extra cab be a good setup?

Yeah, the M-80 is used. I'm only hearing great things about it; I might have to pick it up!

I've used an Ampeg BA-112 for a while, mostly just for personal practice and a couple times for a relatively quiet reheasal. I have even used it with a drummer and guitar player and it held it's own. I love the tone. But, at 50 watts don't expect it to be a gigging amp with an electric band.
