Recommend me a camera?

Hey guys I'm looking to pick up a digital camera for my dad's birthday. We're still using a camera from the 80s so we're overdue! We're looking for something under 400$, preferably. Ideally, it should be simple to use for my neophyte parents (point and click) but advanced features are more than welcome, for me (as long as they aren't obtrusive for the folks). Good quality pics, and, hopefully, a quick interface and snapping speed. Some suggestions are a good start, as are companies to stay away from or to look for. Thanks!

Go with a Canon. They make the best cameras.

Easy to use and small. I have a Canon and love it.

If you're looking to spend under $400, go with the Canon SD630. Its an awesome camera. It has a 3" LCD screen and is ridiculously easy to use. I love it.

The SD 630 is $260 on Amazon.com and has free shipping, no tax.

I guarantee you love it!

I purchased a Sony Cyber-shot for my parents. It's simple to use, and takes nice photos. It came with all the cables necessary to charge the battery, and hook it up to their PC.

I ended up going with this one: DSC-T5. It's a couple years old now, so a dinosaur in the tech world. I'm sure something better is out there at this point.
