Recommend me a new acoustic (6-string)

You can get a Martin Dreadnought for under $800.00

Don't let the naysayers tell you different. I have used mine in studios, on radio, and sound people always say the same thing: THAT THING SOUNDS GREAT!

And it's very playable, and you're not going to be much of a player if your main guitar isn't playable.

Trust me, and listen to no one else. The C.F. Martin company has been making the best acoustic guitars in the world for a very long time.

Check out 70's/80's Japanese Takamines. I have two EF-349 mahogany Martin copies. Had the older one since it was new. I think it's an '82. Still has the "lawsuit" Martin shaped headstock and script. I think they sound/play better than the cheaper new Martins out there and some friends of mine who own those Martins also agree. They can be had for about $300 when they pop up for sale. The simple 2-band plus gain onboard preamp sounds really good too for all it's simplicity.
