My son finally decided to start playing and picked up a cheap Fender Squire. Strings are black and need replaced. He was told those were the strings that came on it when bought new. From the looks of it I'm guessing short scale 40-95 but really not sure. Would like to replace with same gauge. Know what stock size may be?
I thought these were regular (34”) scale. Maybe someone can post up on that, I wasn’t able to find anything saying what the scale was Are you looking for nickel plated rounds? Hard to go wrong with most anything D’Addario makes
Maybe. I have always played long scale. Just know it's much shorter than mine. I prefer round wound. Bass Boomers are always my fallback. I'm just trying to figure out gauge.
They are almost always 45-100 from the factory if that is what was on it If you have a tape measure or yard stick...
Yea their 34" scale, the small head stock makes them look smaller. A fact about the Mb 4,skull model is their the first incarnation of squiers signature models,Frank Bello from Anthrax collaborated with Squier on this one,the newer one with the big skull is the second run,it's not called the same thing, but yea the Mb4s are really nice,I just got one myself in a package deal, the bass and a Fender champion 20 amp,for a guitar amp it makes a nice bass amp, especially when I set the voicing to the Fender Bassman mode, with all the voicing and built in effects it's like having 20 amps in 1
old post yes I know , and sure you figured the strings thing out , Anyway I am owner of a gray metallic Squier MB4 as well as 3 original Fender 1994-95 MB-4 basses and use exclusively Dunlop Super Bright stainless 40-100 gauge strings , they feel great and are smooth feeling , They are 34" scale length and not a medium scale length , 40-95 is great too , especially for a beginner as the light strings will be easier to play
