Recommended Pickups?

Ayup guys,

I've been thinking of replacing the pickups on my old Peavy Milestone; the body's fine it could just use a little extra oomph.
What would everybody recommend? And any idea how I'd wire the things up without electrocuting myself?:)

Hmmm, good point should of clarified
Ideally I'm looking for a quick and easy swap, something I can replace myself with the least amount of modification. As far as sound goes, I'm really just after volume and bite; I'd like it as a viable backup rather than just languishing at home. My main bass has a set of musicman pickups and the Peavey just cannot compete
Sorry for being so vague, just looking for a quick and easy solution really!

Why even compare? :p

Also, when I searched "Peavy Milestone" in Google image, a P model and a J model showed up. Which do you own? As for quick installment, try the new EMG X Series. EMG may not be your first choice in pickups, because I can tell you it sure isn't mine, but the X series is a solderless install. Just buy 'em and drop 'em in. Can't believe any other companies haven't thought of that...but I'm sure that they'll all copy the idea. :)
