Recording bass

Hey Janek, I have a regular headset and I set that in front of my starter amp and I just record that way. My question is how can I make it so my bass records clearer and more audible?

what are you recording into? A computer?

I use Logic on a macbook pro, and there are various ways to get a clearer sound when recording. You can go directly into your sound card or mixing console with a mic cable so the signal is direct into your recording device, you can also buy a better quality microphone and amp which will help the quality of your recording.

I'm recording from a headset microphone, which I place in front of my starter amp and it connects into the microphone jack in the computer.

I would connect the bass directly to the computer. It's certainly better than recording it from a practice combo using a crappy headset microfone..

I have a question about recording direct. Do you use a hardware precompressor between your preamp and the computer? If so, do you have any guidance about which ones are suitable and how to use them?

I use my TC Electronic RH450, into the TC electronic Studio Konnect 48, which is conneted to the computer via firewire.

I have some outboard gear, but for recent stuff I haven't been using it so much. Just going in clean and doing anything I need in post production.
