Recording direct question

I am currently trying different ways to record my bass tracks direct. I want to try to run two lines direct, one from my bass to my POD, and one from my bass to my MXR M-80. What would be the easiest way to accomplish this? Will i need something to split my signal, or is there a way to do this with the POD and the M80? Thanks in advance.

Why would you wanna do that?

I think you need a split cable one end for the bass and the other got two ends for the fx.

After i posted i thought about this idea. I think this is what i will have to do in the end. I want to run two signals (clean and dirty) and then blend them together. Thanks for the comments.

or play a Rickenbacker.

Or you could do one clean track with no fx, then re-amp and record again with effects.

The only issue is that i want the tracks to be the exact same, but just different tones and then blend the two together.

Yup, so you can either record your part twice. (once with FX, and one clean)


Or record your track clean, then send the recorded track back out through the fx and record it again. (all without playing the line again, you're just re-recording the same track again, but adding your outboard fx)

You might want to zoom in (possibly to the sample level) to make sure that the processing delay from the pod doesn't put you out of phase with the signal from the M80. Assuming that one or the other doesn't invert the phase (an entirely different problem), you can nudge one of the tracks to line them up.

I used to it when i had the V-Amp, I would split the two stereo outputs there using Right for the DI clean and Left as MONO+FX
I believe you can do this on your POD, Try reading the manual.
If you have something like a GT-6B you can do the same thing.
I just tried it and it works.
