Recording Help GK MB112

Hello

I am trying to record using the XLR Direct Out on my GK MB112. I have that plugged right into the XLR input on my Apogee ONE, which goes into my Mac. Trouble is, I cannot get the Apogee to read any signal. When the XLR cable is plugged into the amp, it still sounds at full volume when I play. Any ideas?

To bad the MB112 doesn’t have a preamp line output for recording because built-in amp DI’s aren’t great for recording - I recommend micing the amp for better results.

PS - check your XLR cable.

EDIT: PS - also note: using the MB112 DI out does NOT defeat the internal amp speaker.

Thanks for the response. I am generally new to recording. I purchased a brand new XLR cable for this, and got a 'balanced' one. Was that correct? Is there any way to troubleshoot the Apogee ONE? I unfortunately do not have anything else with an XLR out to plug into the ONE

Yes, a standard balanced XLR mic cable with a grounded shield is what you want. Maybe the guys over on the recording board can help you troubleshoot your Apogee ONE.

Did you configure whatever DAW program you're running to "see" the Apogee?

I know Mac stuff is generally plug & play, but that would be the first place I'd check.
