Recording Info (Quartz)

I just got the free version of Quartz on my pc and it works all good and all, and i was wondering if now all i have to do is buy and 1/4" to 1/8" adapter and plug my bass into my soundcard on my pc?

do u get a good sound by plugging into your microphone input? Would i be able to just plug it to that input and record with quartz effectively?

ok hopefully someone will answer this, I have bo clue how to work quartz! i have my bass plugged in and all theres all these buttons and i cant figure out what to press so that i can simply record and then rewind it and be able to hear it?
