Recording into laptop with analog mixer

I want to start recording. I'd like to record my bass/guitar. I've got a Behringer Xenyx502 analog mixer and an Acer Aspire laptop with Windows 7 being the computer's operating system.

I want to set it up like this: Bass/Guitar > Amp > Mixer > Computer

I know I'm going to need some headphones and a DAW, but otherwise, I have no clue what all I need to make recordings.

Does anyone know what I'm missing here?

a lot of people will insist you need an interface of some kind.
If you are planning on pro level quality then you will.
but it may not be necessary for just messin around...



you'll need a cable that goes form 1/4" (for main out) or RCA (for CD/TAPE out) to the 1/8" input of your mic in.
