Try having a look at some of the threads in the FAQ at the top of this forum. Hopefully you'll find answers to this question and lots more about how to get started recording onto your computer. How you do it, and what software you should use depends on what you're trying to achieve with it. But there are a zillion different options, ranging from free software (see JMX's recent thread) to Pro Tools which can use specialist hardware and costs an arm and a leg.
